{4 Years} New Perspective

Today the Hubs and I are celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary. The past four years have been wonderful, but I can honestly say that I am excited for what the next year has to bring.

We have laid the ground work to be making some really big changes in our daily lives to create a happier and healthier life for our family. 

Here are some of our goals for the next year: 

1. Get out of Debt! We have a few credit cards that I would LOVE to get paid off, freeing up more money to go towards are crazy student loans.
2. Lose some weight. We have both struggled with our weight for quite some time. Over the past 2 years we have been making better food choices and seen them pay off. Now we need to really step it up a notch and start making intentional daily decisions to eat better and actively move our bodies everyday (I hate saying exercise).
3. Be the best parents we can be. I want to always be present with Liam. This can be hard, especially after a long day of work.
4. Work on improving our relationship. Spend more time on ‘US’ and improving our communication.
5. Keeping our house clean! We can be fairly sporadic at cleaning our house and I want to get on a weekly schedule that we can easily follow. We both LOVE having a clean house, but hate the frantic cleaning sessions before we have guests.
5. Meal Planning/Freezer Meals. Our food budget is fairy small and doesn't have much wiggle room. I want to put a LOT more effort into meal planning (1-2 weeks of meals at a time) and also stocking up on freezer meals. When I have done this in the past, I have loved the convenience of not having to really think about what we are doing for dinner. I want to keep learning and building on this.
6. Stop making excuses! I am the queen of excuses. I can always give you a reason why I did or didn't do something. We all know that stuff happens in life, but we have the choice on how we react to the situation.

  1. Love this post! My advice on the meal planning/freezer meals, is to pick a day and make all of the dishes to freeze in one afternoon. You can easily make a dozen meals in an afternoon with 4 or 5 different meals that you repeat. Also, once Liam starts solids, you can make his food while your at it so there is another motivating factor to plan ahead and get it done!

    1. Thanks Stephanie! That is my plan. I want to set aside at least one Sunday a month to make a bunch of meals and freeze. I also want to only go to the grocery store twice a month (reduce the impulse buys!).

      I am so excited to start making Liam's food. I actually have some carrots in the fridge from my Grandmother's garden that I am going to make into babyfood and freeze.

    1. Thanks! Funny thing is I created this blog over a year ago and then did nothing with it.

      Maybe while you are on maternity leave you can get your home life organized? But if you don't...don't get down on yourself. I had lots of projects planned for my 12 weeks off and didn't get to many of them.
